Saw this at work the other day and decided to give it a shot based on the cast. I mean, it has Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, and Elizabeth Olsen. At first, I thought it was going to be a paranormal film following in the wake of The Conjuring. It starts off with two doctors examining a paranormal activity only to debunk it. That's standard for these kinds of films. However, that's the premise of the film entirely. It's solid until the halfway mark when SPOILERWeaver dies and it takes a turn. The characters after that point act strangely. Murphy's character has cause, but Olsen and this bookworm kid don't seem realized but as mere devices. De Niro looks like he's having fun mugging it up although, after finishing the movie, his actions are highly questionable in retrospect. The finale itself, SPOILERthe sleight of hand at work in that Murphy is a true psychic, should work better than the end result.

All in all, it was an alright way to kill time on a film I never knew about and had zero expectations other than to see some good actors at work.
People hyping up latest comic book movie to be the GOAT and I'm like "psshh, you guys must not have seen Bigfoot rip off a man's dick before in 1980's Night of the Demon."

This movie has me intrigued for the same reason: the cast. That's quite a lineup. I'm putting this on my 'to do' list.

Hey, you could do worse. It helps that Weaver and De Niro both seem to actually be enjoying themselves in this.
